Drivers in Tiburon will lose through access on Centro West Street for two days starting July 28 while Marin Water repairs a water main near 1880 Centro West.
The Town of Tiburon announced Tuesday, July 21, that the street will be fully closed to through traffic on Tuesday, July 28, and Wednesday, July 29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Local residents will still be able to reach their homes. Flaggers will be posted at two intersections to direct drivers based on their destination:
- Esperanza Street / Mar West / Beach Road
- Diviso Street / Centro East / Centro West
Detour routes by location:
Residents east of 1880 Centro West should use Centro East and Solano. Those west of 1880 Centro West should use Esperanza Street.
The town described the work only as "necessary repairs to the main water line," without specifying the cause.
Other Tiburon road work this summer
The Centro West closure adds to a busy stretch of construction in Tiburon. According to a separate town update, the 2026 Pavement Maintenance Project is already underway with localized repairs ahead of slurry seal application expected in early August. Caltrans crews are also building a retaining wall between Stewart Drive and Trestle Glen Boulevard, with nightly one-way traffic control from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays.
Looking further ahead, a Caltrans pavement rehabilitation project on SR-131/Tiburon Boulevard is scheduled to begin in August 2026.
Marin Water, headquartered in Corte Madera, completed a separate Tiburon infrastructure project in early 2025, replacing nearly 3,500 feet of century-old cast iron pipe beneath Paradise Drive with modern welded steel.
The Centro West closure ends Wednesday, July 29, at 5 p.m. The town asked drivers to obey flaggers and drive safely through the work zone. Residents with questions can contact Marin Water at 415-945-1455.
