Cholita Linda, the Latin American restaurant born at Oakland's Jack London Square farmers market in 2008, has opened its first Marin County location at Strawberry Village in Mill Valley.

The restaurant sits directly across from Tartine Bakery, which opened Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the 175,385-square-foot open-air shopping center on Redwood Highway. Together they anchor a wave of new tenants arriving under Edens, the real estate firm that acquired Strawberry Village in 2022.

It's the restaurant's sixth location.

The San Francisco Business Times reported nine new tenants have opened or are expected to open at the center between June 2026 and the end of 2027. The Marin Independent Journal reported Cholita Linda's opening alongside Tartine's in mid-August.

Founded by Vanessa Chavez and Murat Sozeri, Cholita Linda serves Baja fish tacos, Cubano sandwiches, aguas frescas and craft cocktails. The menu draws on Chavez and Sozeri's Peruvian, Cuban and Mexican heritage.

The Strawberry Village spot joins Cholita Linda locations including Oakland's Temescal neighborhood, Alameda and San Francisco's Ferry Building.

Alexander Ragonese, Edens vice president of development and investment, said in an Aug. 24 announcement that the new tenants and art commissions are "tremendous complements to the vibrant community hub that Strawberry Village has provided this community for decades."

Tartine's 3,091-square-foot space, designed by San Francisco firm Studio BBA, features floor-to-ceiling windows and seats 120 across indoor and outdoor areas. Bread arrives daily from San Francisco; pastries are baked on-site. Tartine CEO Dar Vasseghi said in a press release that opening in Marin "has long been a goal," calling Strawberry Village "a neighborhood gathering place with a strong sense of community," the SF Chronicle reported.

Hot Yoga Republic, founded by Jessica Smith and Kathryn Keown of San Rafael, opened its second studio at the center on Feb. 14. Club Pilates also opened this summer, joining a fitness cluster that includes Pure Barre, Orangetheory and StretchLab, The Ark reported.

Since 2022, Edens has added retailers including Bluemercury, CP Shades, Spot Pet Care, Modern Animal and Citizens Bank. The center received new lighting, landscaping, outdoor seating, refreshed signage and a reimagined central plaza used for live music and community events. Three new public art installations from local female artists debuted in August, according to Edens.

Barry's Bootcamp and Hydration Room, an IV therapy provider, are among the wellness tenants that have come to the center since the acquisition. No opening dates for those businesses have been announced.
