The Corte Madera Parks and Recreation Commission considered launching a community survey on outdoor fitness equipment at its Monday, July 27 meeting, the panel's first regular session since April.

Parks and Recreation Director Tim Barry asked the five-member commission to review and approve a draft survey that would ask residents whether they want pull-up bars, push-up stations, stretching stations, parallel bars, balance and mobility equipment, low-impact cardio machines, or adaptive wheelchair-accessible equipment at Town Park, Cove Park, or along the Bayside Trail. If approved, staff planned to distribute the survey through social media, email, the Town newsletter, and QR codes posted around town.

The survey carries no cost on its own. The project stems from the Town Council's 2026 Work Plan, approved February 17, which directed staff to "conduct public outreach to gauge interest in adding outdoor fitness equipment to Town Park and advance project assuming positive results."

The commission also held a reorganization vote to select a new chair and vice chair. Going into the meeting, Alden Miles served as chair and Nikita Khanderia as vice chair. The results of that vote have not been posted.

Before business items, the commission recognized outgoing Commissioner Tim Rose for his years of service. Barry also presented a proclamation declaring July 2026 "Parks Make Life Better Month," which the Town Council approved July 2 and Mayor Rosa Thomas signed.

On the consent calendar, commissioners were asked to approve draft minutes from the May 18 special meeting. Those minutes recorded three 5-0-2 votes, with commissioners Pati Stoliar and Kiko Lam Hoskins absent: approving the April 20 meeting minutes, greenlighting the SunSafe Marin free sunscreen dispenser program, and forwarding a draft Public Art Policy to the Town Council.

Staff updates on the agenda covered the 4th of July recap, a Fall Activities Guide preview, East Field renovation, the Town Park playground replacement, Menke Park improvements, the Corte Madera Intergenerational Center, and a Family Campout in Town Park scheduled for Friday, August 28.

The official minutes from the July 27 meeting had not been posted as of Wednesday, July 29, so vote outcomes on the fitness survey and reorganization could not be independently confirmed.
