The Corte Madera Town Council will consider an 8% salary increase for its associate civil engineer position when it meets Tuesday, August 4, at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 300 Tamalpais Drive.

The proposed adjustment would raise the top monthly pay step from $11,228 to $12,126, an increase of $898 per month. The current five-step salary range for the classification runs from $9,237 to $11,228, according to the town's FY 2025-2026 pay schedule. Per council policy, the raise requires approval at two separate meetings before taking effect. Tuesday's vote would be the first.

The council will also hear a mid-year status report on the town's 2026 Work Plan. No binding vote is scheduled on that item.

Those two discussion items join a full agenda that also includes a public hearing on a proposed ban on tobacco and nicotine product sales. The consent calendar carries a routine resolution adopting the FY 2026-2027 pay schedule required by CalPERS, plus a General Fund revenue and expense report for the period ending May 2026 that was continued from the July 7 meeting.

The town highlighted the engineer salary and work plan items as key agenda topics in a July 31 Facebook post.

Tuesday's session is the town's first regular council meeting since the July 21 meeting was cancelled. The August 18 meeting was also previously approved for cancellation, making Tuesday, September 1 the next scheduled session.

Mayor Rosa Thomas will preside, joined by Vice Mayor Fred Casissa and Councilmembers James Andrews, Eli Beckman, and Pat Ravasio. Town Manager Adam Wolff and Town Attorney Richard D. Pio Roda are also listed on the agenda.

A closed session begins at 5:30 p.m. Its subject has not been disclosed.
