Kids selling 3D-printed designs, self-published graphic novels and handmade jewelry will fill Town Center Corte Madera on Saturday, Sept. 19, for the first Marin Children's Business Fair.

The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 100 Corte Madera Town Center. Young vendors will set up booths to sell their own creations, including artwork, crochet gifts, pottery and greeting cards, according to the Marin Independent Journal. Local entrepreneurs will award cash prizes at a closing ceremony.

Lauren Rahlson, owner of the Golden Hour Marin clothing brand, helped organize the event. She told the Marin IJ that the fair is meant to show young people their ideas carry real weight.

"You don't need to wait to be an adult to start a business," Rahlson said. "We want this event to show kids that their ideas have value and their community is behind them cheering them on every step of the way."

The fair is part of the Acton Children's Business Fair network, a nonprofit program run by Acton Academy. The network has hosted more than 5,168 fairs across 864 cities in 35 countries, drawing over 119,000 young entrepreneurs. Acton Academy supplies local hosts with planning materials and prize money at no cost.

Corte Madera is a first-time host. Each young vendor paid a $30 booth fee to participate, and booth applications have closed. The Acton program is open to children ages 6 to 14.

The Corte Madera Chamber of Commerce lists the fair on its events page. Families can browse the booths during the three-hour window. The fair wraps up with the awards ceremony at the close of the event.
