Chabad of Tiburon and the Town of Tiburon brought live klezmer, kosher food trucks, and a pop-up Holocaust museum to Zelinsky Park on Sunday, July 26, for the fourth annual Tiburon Jewish Festival.

The free afternoon gathering ran from 1 to 4 p.m. behind Tiburon Town Hall, with food and craft vendors, two live bands, and activities for families and adults. The festival launched in 2023, the year after Rabbi Levi Mintz and his wife Mirel moved to Tiburon to build what they've called a "warm and welcoming" Jewish community.

A headline addition this year was the debut of the Marin Kosher Food Truck, operated by 15-year local food veteran Orly Lanyadoo. The Tiburon resident, who has run her blue Casablanca truck at area farmers markets serving Moroccan and Mediterranean dishes, offered falafel burgers, fried cauliflower with tahini and paprika, fattoush salad, and Mediterranean plates from a truck donated to Chabad by a local family.

"We want to focus on the future and give hope and emphasize joy," Rabbi Mintz told the Marin Independent Journal on July 21, ahead of the festival. "And to expose people to the joy of Judaism and its traditions and what it has to offer everyone of all faiths."

The musical lineup included the Ferris Wheels Band, a Chassidic rock group led by Rabbi Ferris returning for a second year, and the Sonoma County Klezmer Band. Attendees could try honey tasting, spice mixing with food writer Faith Kramer, a Paint & Sip session led by artist Jackie Datnow, and a Jewish scribing workshop with Rabbi Levi Potash. A Yad Vashem exhibit and a community mural titled "We Will Dance Again" anchored the cultural programming.

Kids had jumping castles, obstacle courses, face painting, carnival games, and a magic booth.

Hummus Bodega, a San Francisco kosher Israeli street food spot, served alongside Invei Wines and Kona Ice. The kosher food truck has also served a civic purpose beyond the festival: Chabad has used it for its Friendship Kitchen program, where local volunteers package meals for low-income older adults.

The festival is held annually at Zelinsky Park, 1505 Tiburon Blvd. No 2027 date has been announced. Information about Chabad of Tiburon's programming is available at jewishtiburon.com.
