Two free outdoor concert series are giving Southern Marin residents a reason to grab a blanket and head out on summer evenings, with live music in Corte Madera every Sunday and select Thursdays in Larkspur through the end of August.
The Corte Madera Community Foundation's 2026 Summer Concert Series continues Sunday, July 19, when the Westones bring heavy soul and deep-pocket funk to Town Park at 498 Tamalpais Drive. The Oakland band, formed in 2024 out of a weekly residency, features players who have toured with Con Brio, Afrolicious, and Dirtwire. They recorded their debut EP at Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco and have played the Fillmore.
Shows run 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every Sunday and are free. Concerts are at Town Park while Menke Park undergoes renovation. The foundation says the series may return to the Piccolo Pavilion in Menke Park later this summer, but Town Park remains the listed venue for all scheduled dates, according to the Corte Madera Community Foundation's posted schedule.
Over in Larkspur, the Bon Air Rhythm & Brews series hosts Jeffrey Halford and the Healers on Thursday, July 16, at 5 p.m. outside Gott's at the firepit, 50 Bon Air Center. The series is co-presented by Bon Air and Bread and Roses Presents, and admission is free.
Halford, a San Francisco-based Americana singer-songwriter, has toured with the Healers for more than 30 years, sharing bills with Taj Mahal, Los Lobos, and Gregg Allman. Vintage Guitar Magazine called his sound "lean, fiery rock and roll with the soul of Americana's best."
The Bon Air series has two confirmed dates this summer. The second is Thursday, August 20, featuring local artist Matt Jaffe.
Looking ahead in Corte Madera, Marin County songwriter Jon Chi and the Pacific Syndicate take the stage Sunday, August 2, at 5 p.m. Chi attended Stanford University and the Berklee College of Music, spent a decade producing music in an analog studio beneath the California redwoods, and has had songs featured on NPR's All Things Considered. He has collaborated in the studio with Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead and James Mercer of the Shins.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair.
