Mendocino Farms, the fast-casual restaurant that opened in Mill Valley's Alto Center in May, will host its first civic event on Monday, August 3, when Mayor Max Perrey and Councilmember Katherine Jones hold the city's next "Coffee with the Mayor" forum there from 4 to 6 p.m.

The city posted the announcement on Wednesday, July 22.

The regular August 3 City Council meeting has been canceled for summer recess, according to the city calendar.

The city describes the series as a chance for residents to ask questions, share feedback and meet their elected officials in a casual setting. Perrey and Jones can also be reached by email at [email protected] and [email protected] for those who cannot attend.

What's at stake this fall

Mill Valley residents heading into fall face a significant ballot question. The Municipal Services Tax, a $303-per-parcel levy that funds street maintenance, vegetation management, tree care and wildfire risk reduction, expires at the end of fiscal year 2026-27. The council took a first step toward placing the MST renewal on the Tuesday, November 3 ballot, with a public hearing set for Monday, July 20. Three council seats are also on the November ballot.

The council separately approved a 4% annual sewer rate increase through 2031 at a June meeting, with only nine written protests filed out of 5,238 parcels receiving service.

The August 3 forum gives residents a chance to raise questions about those decisions ahead of the November election.

Getting there

Mendocino Farms is at 745 E. Blithedale Ave., Suite 03, in the shopping plaza anchored by Whole Foods. Drivers should note that guardrail replacement work is underway along East Blithedale Avenue through Monday, August 17, according to a city public works notice. Mill Valley received $1 million in Highway Safety Improvement Program funds to replace three deteriorating wood guardrail sections with new metal barriers near the Whole Foods center.
