Large trucks carrying modular classrooms for Mill Valley Middle School's interim campus will roll through town during early-morning hours starting Tuesday, Oct. 6.
The City of Mill Valley said deliveries are scheduled from midnight to 6 a.m. on weekdays through Friday, Oct. 16. Two trucks will arrive at a time, with two rounds per night. Crews will use additional lighting to unload the buildings safely.
Flaggers will direct traffic.
Residents along the route should expect construction noise during those hours. The trucks will travel down East Blithedale Avenue, turn left onto Camino Alto and then left onto Sycamore Avenue, according to the Mill Valley School District's facilities page.
The overnight schedule was chosen to keep the large loads off roads during daytime traffic and school drop-off hours, the city said. Caltrans, the city and the Mill Valley Police Department coordinated the logistics.
The deliveries mark the next visible phase of the MVMS modernization project, funded by Measure G, a $194 million bond voters approved in 2022. The interim campus will include 29 portable buildings and house middle school students while the main campus undergoes renovation, according to the district’s modernization update.
Access between Friends Field and Sycamore Avenue is closed for the duration of the project. The district has also reminded families that the student drop-off and pick-up location has changed and to allow extra time.
The district has a $3.3 million interim housing agreement with Mobile Modular and a $20 million construction contract with Flint Builders of Roseville, according to a June 2026 financial report cited by the Mill Valley Briefing.
Separately, monthly parent construction meetings begin Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 12:30 to 1 p.m. via Zoom. Residents with questions can call the project hotline at (888) 889-MVMS around the clock.
