The Tam High Foundation reported raising $350,000 toward its annual fundraising goal in an October update shared by the Mill Valley Chamber on Oct. 30.

The foundation’s newsletter and 2026–27 donation page identify the campaign goal as $866,000.

The foundation’s board is reviewing grant applications from more than 20 teachers at Tamalpais High School. Fall awards are expected in mid-November, according to the newsletter.

Donations support fall and spring grant cycles, helping fund classroom resources, programs and learning opportunities for Tam High students.

Learning beyond the classroom

The foundation’s Experiential Learning Grants support field trips and other activities outside school.

This year’s supported experiences include marine biology research aboard a 90-foot vessel on San Francisco Bay, performances at Marin Theatre Company and the San Francisco Symphony, and a behind-the-scenes KQED visit for journalism students.

The newsletter also lists volunteer opportunities with Habitat for Humanity and the SF-Marin Food Bank.

New executive director starts in January

Emily Uhlhorn will become the foundation’s executive director in January 2027, according to its appointment announcement.

Uhlhorn serves on the Tamalpais Union High School District board and will complete her elected term in December 2026 before starting the foundation role. The foundation said its board selected her unanimously following a search.

For the fiscal year ending July 2025, the foundation reported $1,006,915 in revenue and $890,544 in expenses, according to IRS filing data available through ProPublica.

Student concerts ahead

The foundation’s October newsletter lists three upcoming music performances:

  • Thursday, Nov. 12: Cabaret Night; time and location to be announced.
  • Thursday, Dec. 3: Un-Holiday Concert, 7 p.m., Caldwell Theater, featuring guitar and percussion.
  • Thursday, Dec. 10: Holiday Concert, 7 p.m., Mill Valley Community Center, featuring strings, choir and band.

The foundation says it has provided more than $20 million in funding since 1995. Its support for music includes guest artists, instruments, technology and concerts.
